Rodney Willett - Wordsmith and Hack

Having reached three score years and ten, I ought to think about retirement but, in between driving Marcia around as she researches for her novels, keeping records of all her characters and other fairly useful activities associated with her work, I have embarked on two further projects.

The first is a companion to Marcia’s books which explains how she found her locations and tells you something about them. I regret to say that when it is completed it will be horribly expensive. However, I am posting some of this work on this site so for a sneak preview, click HERE.

The second, another book, is the result of many discussions with friends and four in particular. Sadly those four are no longer around - three have died and one has suffered an appalling stroke. The idea is to look at the way the UK is governed in the 21st century. The reason is simple - the way we are doing it at the moment isn’t working and whilst it is always right to say ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ in this case a bit of fixing seems long overdue. Again I am posting thoughts on the web. Incidentally, this has nothing to do with political parties but about the way we are governed, For obvious reasons I am calling this book UK21 and you can see how things are going if you click HERE. If you are at all interested in this idea or feel you would like to have an input, send me an email at rodney.willett@devonwriters.co.uk.

Meanwhile, may I please draw your attention to a pretty boring (but cheap) book that I wrote about ten years ago (although I revised it more recently) called ‘The Right Way to Start Your Own Business’. You can buy it through any reputable bookseller or through one of the many internet bookshops that now vie for your custom. I should add then when I was interviewed about the book on the radio, the presenter asked me ‘Shouldn’t this book be called “How to Avoid Starting Your Own Business?”’ He had a point - I do rather stress the pitfalls but I would never want to suggest to anyone about to branch out on their own that it is a soft option: it isn’t. If you still want to buy it, click on the amazon link to the left.

My other two books are long out of print although secondhand copies do turn up from time to time.
