Marcia and I have been working together since 1980. To start with, Marcia was helping me. Most of the time my output was mainly reports on companies written for the shareholders or to seek further equity or borrowing but, fortunately, there was more: articles and a book on sailing called Starting Cruising and (rather fun this one) another book called Village Ventures on the way in which rural communities use self-help to improve their services - and I suppose I should mention The Right Way to Start Your Own Business as that is the only one still in print.
Then came the day when Marcia agreed to start writing and everything swung around the other way. Now it is my turn to be the helper. Incidentally, details of all Marcia’s books are on a separate web site: CLICK HERE to access it.
I say ‘all of Marcia’s books’ but that is not really true because she has had four other books published under the pseudonym ‘Willa Marsh’. These explore the darker sides of peoples characters and were published by Sceptre.
The four books are titled ‘Amy Wingate’s Journal’, ‘Facing the Music’, ‘Sisters Under the Skin’ and ‘The Quick and the Dead’. All bar the last are out of print but secondhand copies are usually available (sometimes at extraordinarily high prices!). The first and the last have been published in France.
Having reached three score years and ten, I ought to think about retirement but, in between driving Marcia around as she researches for her novels, keeping records of all her characters and other fairly useful activities associated with her work, I have embarked on writing a Companion to Marcia’s books which explains how she found her locations and tells you something about them. I regret to say that when it is completed it will be horribly expensive. However, I am posting this work on this site so you can enjoy a sneak preview although the book will be rather different.
At the same time I am working on another project MARCIA WILLETT’S WEST COUNTRY. This is an exploration of that part of the West Country where the majority of Marcia’s characters live. This, too, can be seen on a separate web site: CLICK HERE to see that one.
